    Oil the outdoor furniture
  1. 1

    Wash the outdoor furniture

Start by washing your outdoor furniture with a sponge. Depending on the condition of the furniture, use a detergent or an algae and mould cleaner. Rinse with water and leave to dry.

  2. 2

    Sanding

Then sand the furniture with sanding paper or a sanding block in the direction of the grain to remove fiber residue from the wash, as well as knots and roughness.

Take away dust with a dry microfiber cloth.

  3. 3

    Oil the outdoor furniture

Now apply oil to the outdoor furniture with a brush so it penetrates well. Wipe off excess oil to avoid a blotchy and sticky result. A good tip for the underside of table and chair legs is to place them on a jar lid with a little oil on it and let the legs soak for 24 hours. This way you get a strong protection against soil moisture.

    Tip!

Do not oil in direct sunlight. The oil may then dry before it has penetrated properly. Evening work is also not recommended, as the dew risks settling on the surface before it has dried.
