    Strong colours for soft cushions

Giving old chairs, cupboards and other furniture a new colour is something that many have tried at some point. Painting cushions may not be as common, but with a little care and imagination it is easy to get a nice result. Here we use textile dyes in different colours and paint the cushion cover with a roller. The pillows immediately get a new and unique style and you can use simple means to spruce up old pillow cases that are already at home.

    Create a pattern

First, it’s time to decide how to paint the cushion cover. It works to use masking tape to create your own patterns, or to use ready-made templates.

When you paint on one side, it is easy for the colour to seep through to the back. Therefore, use protective plastic inside the pillow case.

Paint on the fabric with a roller. Use a good masking tape that gives really sharp edges. If you use a stencil, it must fit snugly against the fabric. Otherwise, the paint can get under the edges. Remove the tape and stencil as soon as you have finished painting and let the paint dry. Then follow the instructions on the paint can to fix the paint. The cushions are now ready for use.
